AMD Revenue Warning Signals Deep Chip Slump; Shares Dive 4

Oct 6 (Reuters) - Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices Inc on Thursday provided third-quarter revenue estimates that were about a billion dollars less than previously forecast, signaling the chip slump could be much worse than expected.

'Rather than offering magazines designed to cater for mass consumption, there has been a razor-sharp focus on creating respected content on specialist subjects, such as gaming, which has been a big draw for advertising partners.'

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Byng-Thorne said: 'We have built a consistent track record of doubling our business every couple of years, and are excited about our ability to sustain our growth as we aim to reach one in two people online in the US.

The trailer did reveal Jack Black as Bowser, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. But some fans were disappointed that the clip didn't include a clip of Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, especially the actor's infamous laugh.

"I think AMD is showing that nobody is safe from the post-pandemic PC downturn, and those inventory corrections are also impacting the company," said Anshel Sag, chip analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy.

Last week memory chip maker Micron Technology warned of tougher times and said it was cutting its capex investments in fiscal 2023 by over 30% to a total of $8 billion. Nvidia Corp and Intel Corp both delivered much worse than expected earnings in their latest reports.

Sure, there was no way Pratt was going to use the exaggerated, stereotypical voice, but so little of him can actually be heard in the teaser it's tough to say how his Mario will sound. He doesn't deliver any of Mario's famed catchphrases -- no "It's-a me, Mario" or "Wahoo!" Maybe more will be revealed when a longer trailer comes along. Regardless, there's a better chance to hear some of Jack Black's Bowser (he's excellent) and a good look at the vibrant animation.

And another person summed it up nicely, writing, "It's not similar to Mario. It's not similar to Mario's vibe. It's not even similar to the live action movie version. Just Chris Pratt sounding a little confused."
