Carlos Regueiro fell ill and died of a heart attack after police fired rubber bullets and tear gas after rioting fans rushed the field during a soccer match between Gimnasia La Plata and Boca Juniors at Juan Carmelo Zerillo Stadium in La Plata, Argentina, on Thursday night. The 57-year-old was a former soccer player who once played for Villa San Carlos, lower division club
The incident, according to Argentine network TNT Sports, was caused by the upsetting reaction from fans when a police officer allegedly pushed a girl. Fans scuffled with security forces who responded by firing rubber bullets and tear gas.  Meanwhile, fans were still attempting to enter the stadium, but the entrance gates were already closed.

The panel of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's top officials has for months been drafting regulations for the country's online gaming sector, where foreign investors such as Tiger Global and Sequoia Capital have backed gaming startups Dream11 and Mobile Premier League, hugely popular for fantasy cricket.

Though the panel considered only online skill games, and not gambling, which is handled by states, it noted that many offshore betting and gambling websites that are illegal in India have become popular among Indian users.

Tate was banned from Twitter for evading a previous ban, a Twitter spokesperson told CNET. Meta booted him from its platforms for violating community guidelines under the "dangerous individuals and organizations" clause. A YouTube spokesperson said Tate was barred from the platform after "multiple violations" of community guidelines.

Tate has more recently become famous as an online personality promising to show boys and men how to "escape the matrix" -- shorthand for becoming more wealthy and iamelf.com successful with women. Before being booted from social media platforms, he had over 4.5 million Instagram followers, as well as 600,000 subscribers on his "Tate Speech" YouTube account. Videos carrying his hashtag on TikTok have been viewed over 14 billion times.

"On the aspect of prohibiting games of chance (e.g. gambling websites or apps) being played online, the proposed Digital India Act can include it in the list of prohibited user harms that will not be permitted," the report stated.

‘The second 12-year-old female from Lufkin, who Sheriff's investigators believe was involved with the planning of the shooting, was taken into custody last week and has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.'

Much of Tate's content is unrelated to women. Apart from touting advice on how to become wealthy, he's also known for his outspoken support of Donald Trump, who he sees as an exemplary "alpha male." Tate also spoke out against COVID lockdowns and vaccine mandates, despite the voluminous evidence showing that vaccines are effective at preventing hospitalization and death from COVID-19.

Fans of the home team Gimnasia La Plata and visiting Boca Juniors had struggled earlier to enter the already full stadium when police resorted to firing rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse the fans.

'I will say that this case is definitely a time to remind parents that it's very important to know who your children are friends with, whether that's in the classroom, social media apps, Snapchat, TikTok and then also gaming platforms.'
What got Tate kicked off social media? Tate's comments about women appear to be what led to him being kicked off Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and Twitch. Though his political takes were polarizing, many of his remarks about women were unambiguously sexist.

Cousineau said that big tech's banning of Tate could reduce his impact but not erase it, as sites like Rumble provide a refuge for speech deemed hateful on other platforms. "Andrew Tate and others like him are not going to be exposed to millions of new people and get billions of views in these niche spaces, and the cultural impact of their rhetoric is necessarily minimized," Cousineau said.

In its security protocols, FIFA advises against the use of tear gas in or around stadiums in order to avoid risky situations such as in La Plata or in the Indonesian city of Malanga last Saturday, when many of the dead were crushed to death during the stampede of fans.

"I understand the argument that banning people like Tate from mainstream platforms pushes them toward more niche areas of social media and online space where radicalization goes to grow," Cousineau said. "But Andrew Tate and others like him are not going to be exposed to millions of new people and get billions of views in these niche spaces, and the cultural impact of their rhetoric is necessarily minimized."

Carlos Regueiro attended the match with his family and fell ill due to the effects of the tear gas that had been fired after the police tried to get the crowd to retreat from the field during the Gimnasia La Plata and Boca Juniors match at Juan Carmelo Zerillo Stadium in the Buenos Aires town of La Plata.
